The main machining surfaces of shaft parts include cylindrical and specialized surfaces. Suitable machining methods should be selected based on different accuracy levels and surface roughness requirements. There are four basic processing paths:

 

The first is the processing route from rough turning to semi-finishing and then to fine turning. This is the main processing route for pin shafts made from commonly used materials for external processing.

 

The second path is from rough turning to semi-finishing, followed by rough grinding and then finish grinding. This route is used for ferrous metal materials and parts with high precision requirements, where surface roughness is minimal and quenching is required. However, this method is not applicable to materials that do not require quenching.

 

The third processing route involves rough turning, semi-finishing, and finishing, and is specifically for non-ferrous materials. Since non-ferrous metals are softer, they tend to clog the spaces between sand grains. To achieve the desired surface roughness, finishing and diamond turning are needed.

 

The final path involves rough turning, semi-finishing, rough grinding, fine grinding, and finishing. This method is typically used for parts made from hardened iron that require high accuracy and low surface roughness.
