We can produce CNC lathed parts with low surface roughness values. Surface roughness is affected by cutting speed and feed rate when the workpiece and tool material, finishing allowance, and tool angle remain constant. Ordinary machine tools have a fixed speed, while cutting speed varies with the diameter. CNC lathes, however, feature a constant line speed cutting function. To ensure that the surface roughness remains consistently low, the same line speed can be used for both the end face and outer circle, regardless of size. When cutting surfaces with different surface roughness requirements, a lower feed rate is applied to surfaces with the lowest roughness, and a higher feed rate is used for surfaces with greater roughness. This level of variability is extremely precise, which is difficult to achieve with conventional machine tools.
