CNC Milling Parts Manufacturing Services
CNC milling is a highly advanced and precise subtractive manufacturing process that is utilized in various industries, including automotive and aerospace, to create intricate and accurate components.

Design: Begin by designing a digital three-dimensional model of the part using 3D CAD software. Ensure that the dimensions and shapes of the part are accurately represented. You may refer to existing 2D drawings, samples, or create the design from scratch, following the DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles.
CAM Processing: Once the design is complete, proceed to CAM processing. Utilize specialized CAM software to translate the CAD model into a set of instructions for the CNC machine. These instructions should guide the machine on tool selection, cutting speed, feed rate, coolant usage, and feature inspection. This stage is crucial in transforming the design into a detailed production roadmap.
Machining: Load the output from the CAM software into the CNC machine. Secure the raw material (workpiece) in a fixture and initiate CNC milling. The machine will follow the CAM instructions, precisely positioning the cutting tool and removing material at high speed with accuracy.
Final Stage: After CNC milling is completed, conduct a thorough inspection of the resulting part. It may involve measuring dimensions, checking the shape, and evaluating surface quality. Once the part passes the final inspection, it can be used for assembly, delivery, or further processing based on project needs.
Common CNC Milling Parts Surface Finish Measurement
Visual Inspection
While subjective, visual inspections can quickly identify major surface flaws.
Surface Roughness Testers
These devices measure the micro-irregularities on the surface, providing a quantitative roughness value.
Profilometers
By tracing a stylus over the surface, profilometers generate a detailed profile that can be analyzed to assess surface characteristics.
Surface Treatment of CNC Milling Parts
As-Machined Finish
This finish is often chosen for parts that don't require a high degree of smoothness or visual refinement but emphasize functionality and cost-efficiency.
Sand Blasting
This process involves propelling small particles of abrasive material onto the surface of the part to create a smooth, matte texture. It's suitable for parts that require a uniform, aesthetically pleasing finish with a matte look.
Anodizing
An electrochemical process that creates a protective oxide layer on the surface of aluminum and titanium parts, anodizing increases corrosion resistance and adds a decorative coating that can be dyed in various colors.
Powder Coating
A dry powder is electrostatically applied to the surface before being cured in an oven, forming a tough and uniform coating. It is suitable for parts that require both functional protection and attractive coloring.
Electropolishing
This is a chemical process where parts are immersed in an electrolytic bath to remove a thin layer of material, thereby smoothing and brightening the surface.
Brushed Finish
By using an abrasive belt or brush, this process creates a uniform pattern of fine lines across the surface.
Passivation
This finish does not change the surface appearance but significantly improves the longevity of stainless steel parts in corrosive environments.
Electroplating
Electroplating is often used in electronics and automotive parts that require enhanced functional characteristics.

Application industries of CNC Milling Parts
Used in Aerospace
CNC milling produces parts from various materials, including metals, plastics, and composites. Aircraft parts are typically made from metal or composite materials, and CNC milling is a great way to produce them quickly and accurately.
Used in Agriculture
CNC Milling is a process that cuts or shapes material by rotating it around a cutting edge. This is done with a machine that is controlled by software, making it possible to produce intricate and precise parts. In agriculture, milling can make parts for everything from tractors to fertilizer machines.
Used in Automotive Industry
The CNC milling process is versatile in creating intricate parts for automotive applications. Some of the most common uses for CNC milling are in manufacturing car parts and accessories, motor vehicles, and aircraft components.
Used in Medical Manufacturing
CNC milling is a very versatile process that can be used in many different industries. One of the most common applications of CNC milling parts is in the medical manufacturing industry. CNC milling can create parts that are much more accurate and consistent than those made using other techniques.

Materials That Can Be Processed by CNC Milling Parts
CNC Milling can work with a variety of materials, both metal and non-metal. Here are some common CNC Milling materials:
Aluminium
This material likewise has great corrosion resistance since it can naturally form a protective layer once exposed to outdoor elements.
Stainless Steel
Similar to aluminium, stainless steel also boasts excellent corrosion resistance. It can also be heat treated optimally, which cannot be done conveniently with other materials.
Titanium
This metal material has a high temperature melting point, allowing it to be processed without getting damaged. It is likewise impervious to salt and water.
Copper
And when subjecting this material to CNC milling, it can effectively obtain one's needed shape thanks to its impeccable thermal conductivity properties.
Polyvinyl Chloride
This material is known for its resistance to corrosion and chemicals. It can even withstand flames.
Nylon
Another plastic material that can undergo the process of CNC milling is nylon. It is also easy to machine. These qualities allow nylon to be utilised in producing bearings, insulators, and products intended for injection moulding.
Solid Wood and Plywood
Industries often use CNC milling machines in processing metals and plastics. These materials have excellent resistance to wear and tear.
