Processing Process
The processing of CNC motor shafts usually includes the following steps: rough turning/center drilling, fine turning/residual grinding allowance, grinding, and milling when necessary.

1. Rough turning/center drilling
Rough turning refers to the preliminary turning process performed on a CNC lathe, the purpose of which is to remove most of the excess material on the motor shaft to approach the final size and shape. This processing step is fast and efficient, but the processing accuracy is relatively low.

Center drilling is to drill a center hole at both ends of the motor shaft. This is to ensure that the shaft can be accurately aligned during subsequent processing and avoid processing errors caused by misalignment.

2. Fine turning/residual grinding allowance
Fine turning is performed after rough turning to achieve higher dimensional accuracy and surface finish. The accuracy of fine turning is usually required to be around 0.01mm, which can ensure that the final size of the motor shaft meets the design requirements. During the fine turning process, by adjusting the cutting parameters, the processing allowance can be effectively controlled and the burden of subsequent grinding can be reduced.

Residual grinding allowance refers to the amount of material left on the shaft after finishing turning for subsequent grinding. The reason for this is that finishing turning cannot achieve the final surface roughness and dimensional accuracy, and grinding can further improve the accuracy and surface quality of the shaft.

3. Grinding
Grinding is the process of fine machining of motor shafts. Grinding uses abrasives to cut the surface of the workpiece, which can achieve high-precision dimensional control and extremely low surface roughness. For motor shafts that require high precision and high surface quality, grinding is an indispensable step. Generally, grinding can achieve an accuracy of 0.005mm.

4. Milling (when necessary)
Milling is a process used to machine complex geometries or specific features on motor shafts. When the features that need to be machined on the motor shaft cannot be completed by turning or grinding, milling will provide additional processing capabilities. For example, certain bosses, slots or other non-circular features may need to be machined on the motor shaft, which usually need to be achieved by milling.
